Paris shop window: a concertina

Cindy Tonkin - March 2, 2014

This was an old 2d work which i liked. it was hard to store, and it was too hard to paint over, given that it was a collaged work with about 10 layers already.
So i collaged the back and it’s now a beautiful 15cm square book (a one-page book) with little windows and tiny price tags.
since these photos were taken i’ve used nail polish to seal the edges (which show white in these photos).
I’ve called it Paris shop window because Tawny Bromley commented that with the little price tags it was like a Parisian shop window.
It’s collage on canvas, nail polish, ink, acrylic paint, tissue paper, including dress patterns, buttons, price tags, cotton thread, old maps and text books
