Make graceful and lasting change

Black Box

Cindy Tonkin - July 11, 2017

This is another one of those just play pieces.

The long concertina is decorated with tiny pockets from a Paris street directory from the 80s (although when I went there in 2013 the same street directory is still for sale: updated, of course, but how much does a city that old change?)

The tiny pockets are filled with little cards, and on the cards I’ve drawn rooftops. Rooftops are one of my obsessions: go check out my instagram feed to see the ones I see every day, check out this carousel for one of my favourite Paris rooftop views.

The tiny box was given to me by one of my art buddies. People give me boxes all the time now (I have a shelf in the top of my wardrobe devoted to boxes with boxes inside them).
