This has been hidden somewhere within my studio, and immerged from a pile recently, unphotographed!
Chronologically it was done towards the end of the deconstruction of the lovely big Fashion book, and of course it was all part of the Dress theme!
The photographs come from similar eras of fashion, but were selected for their colours (black and white only), and size, which i sorted from smaller to larger to make it all work. I do have a tendency to put the smaller images at the front and then the larger ones at the back, which works from a display point of view for flag books, but is counter to how perspective works. But I do like how this shows all of the women’s faces.
Once I’d stuck them all together it was too monochrome, so I shaded in some parts of the photos with orange and turquoise and navy sharpies – on the china coated paper they work so well, and such a visceral pleasure!
I do love this deep navy colour – this is leftover card from the stuff I bought to do Divorce.
