Chairs painted

Cindy Tonkin - February 14, 2021

One day at art Pip talked about an art teacher who had suggested they choose a common object, and then just draw it wherever they were. so i chose chairs. On my next trip to Europe, when James and I went the Loire and then through major cities to Mont St Michel and then back to Paris, and to Lake Como with Nicola I photographed cafe chairs, chairs in churches. It has pretty much stayed with me. Now in 2021 I photograph the abandoned chairs by the side of the road (since we’re not travelling with covid!). These paintings were begun in 2007. I returned to chairs in 2019 here.
