This is the first tunnel book I made with Liz Powell at Context Art 2016. Measures 14 x 12 cm x 0.8 when closed.
The illustrations come from a Russian tale, Sister Vixen and the Wolf. In short, the Vixen is smart.
She outsmarts people and especially the wolf. It’s a kind of Russian Brer Rabbit.
The mechanics of setting up the gusset of this book were quite complex: the illusion that the gusset is a continuous piece of paper holding it together is part of its charm. See the prep here.
