Shanties builds community without much time for chat. We sing (and drink) a lot. Here are links to the Randy Dandy Shanties Clubs in the inner west of Sydney
- Redfern Shanty Club
- Surry Hills Shanty Club
- Camperdown Shanty Club
- Newtown Shanty Club (in drydock)
- Marrickville Shanty Club (in drydock)

And we have sister clubs and Shanty Friends including these:

That’s a top of the head random list. If you want your club to be here, please get in touch!
The image below is from the National Folk Festival in Canberra in 2023. Ewan Lawrie from Canberra Shanty Club hosted a Shant Moot, where half a dozen clubs from all over Australia participated. More than 80 people turned up to our (way too early in the morning) shants each day. In the photo Cindy Tonkin, Dan Schneider, Kiera McGillion, Ian, Dan Werndly (and a host of other singers in the background who remain anonymous, at least to us.

Here is the official Shanties site. Please do not contact me about Shanty business – I’m a fan, not a captain. Talk to them on [email protected], Instagram, orĀ their web page.
