I’ve lost my count

This is a Sarah Cobb-Clark original.

I’ve lost my count
I’ve lost my count
And I’m about to kill the one
Who made me lose my count

I’ve just begun my project
From a pattern I have found
I chose my yarn, I chose my hook
And then I start my round
I start to read the pattern
To check the stitch amount
My name is called across the bar
And now I’ve lost my count.

I’ve lost my count
I’ve lost my count
And I’m about to kill the one
Who made me lose my count

I’m halfway down the pattern
At round one seventy four
Double crochet fifteen times, decrease
Repeat it five times more
This project has been tricky
But this challenge I’ll surmount
Someone interrupts to have a chat
And now I’ve lost my count

I’ve lost my count
I’ve lost my count
And I’m about to kill the one
Who made me lose my count

I’m getting close now to the end
My project will be done
It’s a good thing too for my next craft
I already have begun
My yarn gets snagged upon the chair
Unravels some amount
I have no clue which row I’m on
And now I’ve lost my count

I’ve lost my count
I’ve lost my count
And I’m about to kill the one
Who made me lose my count
