This piece uses Margaret Wise Brown’s poem In Greater Amicus. Also I Will by the Beatles, and Adlestrop by Edward Thomas.
The video describes a lot of the process (and I have talked about my ways of upgrading a piece that isn’t working here).
This one got the full treatment – a base of acrylic glazes, black sharpie lines, gold dots, poetry added to it, collaged in objets, tiny envelopes with more poetry. It was one of the first pieces I did after a long hiatus of just not getting much art done at all, and I let myself off the hook, choosing the offcuts from a big piece (I’d chosen to make a 20cm high book, which became Cure/ Warts. this one is about 13, what was left from a larger piece of paper). If I’m feeling less than creative or shall we say rusty I like to do something lower stakes, and the process of “what do i do with this” eventually became enjoyable, if a little frustrating.
Here are more photographs of the work.
