Here’s what it sounds like
This is part of a series about Women’s Work I wrote for Shanties (where we sing a lot about men’s work).
Daisy was my grandmother. Every night that we were at her place when Wheel of Fortune came on the TV that was the signal to beginning making the green beans (possibly from my Poppy’s garden originally?).
The photo below shows me and my two sisters (I’m about 6, Kellie is 5, Jodie is 4). We all helped prepare the green beans. So the song’s about two types of women’s work I guess: minding and educating children and cooking.
By the time I was at university she had begun to use frozen beans, and that’s when Apricot Chicken became a thing. At this time it was probably lamb chops! Forgive me for taking a little artistic licence.
