The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song
Angel he was and Angel he does
His hair is the colour of wine
And when he starts singing his favourite song
It touches your heart every time
The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song
By age of 16
he learnt all the words
He thought it a natural thing
And now that he’s 30 he does it for fun
All he can do now is sing
The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song
No matter the day
No matter the hour
When things are good or they’re bad
Angel will sing and the whole world feels joy
When Angel he sings with the band
The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song
You think it’s a blessing
He thinks it a curse
He never gets angry or fights
His girlfriend is worried
He seems much too nice
No range of emotions at all
The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song
So heed now this warning
Know the import
We all need some light and some shade
Think of poor Angel who spread such great joy.
But never comes down from the high
The cellist is crying
The fiddle’s a mess
The guitar’s stopped strumming along
You won’t find a single dry eye in the house
When Angel starts singing a song

Here’s the chorus and a verse:
At the Illawarra Folk Festival in 2024 a band played a song in memory of a dead friend. The cellist cried all the way through, while still playing. This song was born from that.
Angel does not exist, i made him in response to what would make a musician cry (other than the literal reason that I had seen).
