to the tune of Boney was a warrior
original words by Cindy Tonkin.
I will sing an opening line (you go)
Tall tall ship
Then I will sing a second line
tall tall ship
We’re sailing out from Campbell’s Cove
The harbour is a treasure trove.
Get your beers soon from the fridge
And we’ll go under the harbour bridge.
We will not go so willy nilly
And we’ll cruise past old Kirribilli.
It’s not a joke, it’s just a lark
The winning grin of Luna Park.
We’ll sail on past Fort Denison
And then we’ll all come back again.
Past Garden Island we will roam,
Soon we’ll be nearly half way home.
I know your heart’s up in your throat
We’re hauling past the isle of Goat.
Seagull, pigeon, dove or starling
We’ll find ourselves in Harbour Darling.
As graceful as a kangaroo
We’ll glide on by Barangaroo.
Written because we’re on the harbour with the Sydney Tall Ships every month at the moment (August 2026), and it’s so good to have a shant that works within the environment.
