The journey is over, no reason to roam
My sweet little darling, wants me to come home
She’s ever my anchor, and ever my rock
And I know she’ll be waiting, as we pull into dock

Well I’m off to sail boys, I’ve said my goodbyes
My heart watched me go boys, no tears in her eyes
She’s crying inside boys, but still she stays strong
For though I am leaving, it won’t be for long

The journey is over, no reason to roam
My sweet little darling, wants me to come home
She’s ever my anchor, and ever my rock
And I know she’ll be waiting, as we pull into dock

The order comes down boys, we’re bound further north
The crews faces fall boys, as we venture forth,
My thoughts turn to her boys, how sad she will be
And it’ll be too long, ‘fore next she sees me

The journey is over, no reason to roam
My sweet little darling, wants me to come home
She’s ever my anchor, and ever my rock
And I know she’ll be waiting, as we pull into dock

Now the ship starts to fail boys, she’s older than I
She’s beyond our repair boys, but damnit we’ll try
6 months since we left boys, last I heard your voice
But we’ll get her back home ’cause, there’s no other choice

The journey is over, no reason to roam
My sweet little darling, wants me to come home
She’s ever my anchor, and ever my rock
And I know she’ll be waiting, as we pull into dock

It’s been a long year boys, sailing over the seas
With nothing but sky boys, and the salt crusted breeze
It’s lonely out here boys, but always I know
That my love is waiting, so onward I’ll go
