Captain’s Chair

Cindy Tonkin - December 20, 2024

Mitch found this baby on the street around christmas 2023. It sat in the lounge room for a year, I bought leather restorer and then new leather from reverse garbage. and then early 2024 I took it apart. it sat in the studio for 9 months or so, and this December I decided to finish it, even if it wasn’t right.

It wasn’t right. I put the cushion back in skew, and there’s a weird little gap which isn’t working.

But onwards and upwards, it functions as a chair.

I added braid to cover the staples. I painted the wooden bits white, but then decided on gold.

It’s still incomplete. the little weird leather covered box I fashioned to fill the hole keeps falling out with use. but it works.

I’ll get to it!!

Here are some images.
