Adlestrop

Cindy Tonkin - December 19, 2018

Here’s a video of me playing with this book, Adlestrop, so you can get the size. It’s a double concertina. I like the rough uneven edge on the book, and I like that it’s smaller than my hand.

Adlestrop is the title of a poem by Edward Thomas. The poem is part of this work. Here is the poem in its entirety.

The page is a re-purposed watercolour work of the merry go round and the seafront houses and cafes at a French seaside town in Normandy called Honfleur. I visited in 2009 or so. Took lots of photographs. Here’s some images from that Honfleur series.

And some images.
