The Old Hotel McCain

Oh my night is ended
And my money is spended
But there’s one thing that could take the pain of my empty pocket away

A cheap beer in a cheap glass
My left arm round my sweet lass
And the sticky sandy carpet of the old hotel mccain

I was running to you
As the lights were shining
And the street was slickened by the rain

I held my hands out to you
As the regulars were lining
To enter the old Hotel McCain

There’s an old man in his twenties
With his eyes sewn to the big screens
And he’s waiting for the day his pony comes home

And as he spends his life there
With his legs up on a low chair
For a moment it is better to be alone

I was running to you
As the lights were shining
And the street was slickened by the rain

I held my hands out to you
As the regulars were lining
To enter the old Hotel McCain

If you’re far from home now
Could I share some know how
There are many such places that make you feel you’re not so far away

If stale beer is nostalgia
As the fumes gather round ya
Theres a million and one places like the old hotel mccain

I was running to you
As the lights were shining
And the street was slickened by the rain

I held my hands out to you
As the regulars were lining
To enter the old Hotel McCain
